I'm Getting to be a Big Girl!

Well, I say this every time I blog...It's been WAY too long! Charleigh is now 9 1/2 months old, and it just amazes me to see how much she's growing and learning. I always remind myself to take in everything, because it'll all change in no time...it seems weekly!

She now has 8 teeth, four on top, 4 on bottom. Charleigh isn't quite crawling, but she's starting act more motivated to get to things that are out of reach. Just this past week, she's trying to get up on her knees. Now, she just has to get brave. She will pull up on the ottoman or coffee table with a little help, and she loves to be helped to stand up in her crib when she wakes up after naps. She eats three solid meals, and just recently does not want to be spoon fed. She's really exhibiting independence in that area! She loves finger foods, and we haven't found anything she doesn't like...still! You can't eat around her now without her waving her arms and grunting at you, as if to say, "Hey, whatcha got on that plate of yours, Dad? I'd like some of that!" Charleigh is quite the chatter box, and lately she loves to kind of sing. It's a very high pitched, sweet voice, not really a squeal. It's really cute. She also waves her arms and has her index finger pointing on each hand when she does it sometimes, almost like she's conducting an orchestra.

Charleigh loves her sippy cup. She wasn't too sure of the texture when she took a BIG bite off her teething "cookie" versus just gumming it! Priceless face!

We set up a swing under our back deck for Charleigh. She grins from ear to ear, and enjoys the fresh air while watching the dogs retrieve a tennis ball.

Charleigh is a little cuddler, at times. She loves to hug necks. One evening, when she had her nighttime bottle, she crossed her legs while reclining on me. She often crosses her legs, but I thought that was particularly cute!

We've had a few playdates with my friend and her daughter, who was born 3 weeks after Charleigh. It's so cute to watch them just stare at each other. We went to the park with them a few weeks ago, and it was both of the girls' first time in a swing at the park. They both loved it. Charleigh was all smiles and giggles.

We had about 5 inches of snow back in February, and Charleigh LOVED it! We went outside to play and sat Charleigh on a plastic storage bin lid. I think that Charleigh would've stayed outside to watch Brian, me, and the dogs for hours. Her cheeks and nose got very pink, so we decided to go inside, and her poor thighs were even freezing cold and pink, but she enjoyed every minute of it.

Brian and I sled down our back hill on a piece of beadboard...you know you live in the South when. Maybe we should invest in a real sled before Charleigh gets old enough to know better! :)

Charleigh is working on getting up on her knees. She typically will go from this position, into a lunge forward to get to the object (or dog) she wants. Then, once she's on her belly, she will roll around a few times until she fusses and is ready to be put back in a sitting position to do it all over again.
We hope that everyone is doing well! Hopefully next time I'll be blogging about Charleigh's adventures in crawling! Have a great week!
