Time is Flying!

Where does the time go? It's been too long since our last post! I'll do my best to catch you up on what Charleigh's up to these days . . .

We dedicated Charleigh on September 20. Grandma, Grandpa, Mimi, Pops, Aunt Meg, Uncle Jeff, and Kohen came to church with us for the special ceremony.

Charleigh got to see her first snow up in the mountains in mid-October when we went up for the Woolly Worm Festival. We got her all bundled up, and she was a trooper as we went to two festivals, enjoying the yummy food, art, and cool air.
Ready to go into the cold

It just snowed at the top of the mountain. It was cool to see the fall foliage on the trees covered in snow!

To enjoy more fall weather, we went with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Meg, Kohen, and Aunt Laurie up to the north Georgia mountains to Burt's Pumpkin Farm and then to a yummy family-style restaurant, The Smith House, the weekend before Halloween. We were able to get a few cute pictures, but she really isn't sitting up on her own well yet, so propping against a pumpkin didn't work for too long.

We tried again at another pumpkin patch near us and she did pretty well.

We had lots of fun with Charleigh on Halloween. She wore some skeleton pajamas and visited with a few friends on our street before it was bedtime.
Sweet little pumpkin!

Look at those legs kicked out straight...always makes us laugh!

Ready for trick-or-treaters to come

The biggest new thing with us now is eating food! Charleigh started practicing sitting in her Bumbo seat a few weeks before we started solid foods so that she could build stamina. She got better and better at it each day, spending more and more time in it. She's now able to sit upright in her highchair at meal time. She eats two solid meals a day, consisting of a vegetable and a fruit, and sometimes a little cereal if she's still hungry. She absolutely LOVES food, saying "Mmmm" with each bite she takes. We thought we would get some really great faces from her, but she really does like everything, but her favorites are sweet potatoes and apples. She was eating store bought food to start with so that I could learn the consistency; now I'm making it, so it's quite a bit different texture than from the jar. The texture change definitely provided for some entertaining faces!
Whoa...hard to hold myself upright

Getting better...the smile says, "This is fun!"

Much better!

We started out with really thin cereal one time a day for two weeks

"I'm ready to eat, please."

It was first hard for her to concentrate on sitting and eating, hence the leaning

Before, and...

After

"I just LOVE food! And I sit in my highchair like a big girl!"

Aunt Elaine feeding Charleigh

Charleigh loves playing in her "exersaucer", and she's very interested in the dogs now, too. Riggs doesn't complain about the extra lovin'!

Everything is going straight to the mouth these days!

She also loves jumping in her doorway jumper!

Her feet dance back and forth...we call her our little Irish folk dancer

A little kiss to the face

You wouldn't know that she's obsessed with her feet, would you?!?

Mimi came to stay with us for a few days to keep Charleigh while I worked. They had lots of fun together!

Kohen came to spend a day with us. He loves to show Charleigh how all of her toys work.

He also liked helping feed her.

We'll leave you with this sweet "gummy" smile (and a bit of a runny nose...she's got her first cold). There won't be too many more of these as we can see and feel the first sharp little tooth coming in on the bottom. It's so sad to think we'll never see any more "gummy" smiles from our sweet baby. It's amazing to see all that Charleigh is learning to do, and it's so fun to be with her while she's having fun taking the world in. We're trying to soak up and enjoy every precious moment of this sweet stage right now, as we know that big changes are ahead, like sitting and crawling.

On the Road Again...our past two weekends

We've had a busy past two weekends with it being Labor Day and Brian's Birthday. Charleigh's been quite a trooper through our busy-ness, and we've found it very different to have our busy weekends with an infant in tow, trying to compromise and meet her half way with her routine and our plans. It's easier said than done, but we all managed well!

For Labor Day weekend, my (Kara) side of the family spent the weekend up at Lake Lanier, about 30 minutes from our house. Gramma and Grampa had a campsite for their trailer for the weekend on a nice little cove on the lake where they could anchor their boat. Aunt Laurie came in town from D.C. and had a few friends join us. Great Uncle Korey, Great Aunt Wendy, and Zack were able to come down from South Carolina for the long weekend, as well. Aunt Meghan, Uncle Jeff, and Kohen came out for the day each day, too. We had a great time skiing, tubing, and wake boarding all weekend, eating some great food, and hanging out laughing together. Charleigh enjoyed the fresh air and catching a few zzz's in the trailer a few times each day.
Charleigh was sporting her Clemson dress for the first game..."It's Game Day, Baby!"

SO HAPPY!

This past weekend, we went to the mountains for Brian's birthday. It was Charleigh's first time at the condo. Brian and Pops played some golf while Charleigh, Mimi, and I hung out at the condo before Aunties Kari and Elaine came up. Saturday consisted of a yummy breakfast out, a trip to Blowing Rock for Art in the Park, and a trip to Elizabethton, TN to meet Charleigh's great grandmother, Nana. The weather couldn't have been more beautiful for all of our events that day. Charleigh was her chipper self with Nana, showing Nana her sweet smile and talking to her. What a special time!
