We dedicated Charleigh on September 20. Grandma, Grandpa, Mimi, Pops, Aunt Meg, Uncle Jeff, and Kohen came to church with us for the special ceremony.
Charleigh got to see her first snow up in the mountains in mid-October when we went up for the Woolly Worm Festival. We got her all bundled up, and she was a trooper as we went to two festivals, enjoying the yummy food, art, and cool air.
To enjoy more fall weather, we went with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Meg, Kohen, and Aunt Laurie up to the north Georgia mountains to Burt's Pumpkin Farm and then to a yummy family-style restaurant, The Smith House, the weekend before Halloween. We were able to get a few cute pictures, but she really isn't sitting up on her own well yet, so propping against a pumpkin didn't work for too long.
We had lots of fun with Charleigh on Halloween. She wore some skeleton pajamas and visited with a few friends on our street before it was bedtime.
The biggest new thing with us now is eating food! Charleigh started practicing sitting in her Bumbo seat a few weeks before we started solid foods so that she could build stamina. She got better and better at it each day, spending more and more time in it. She's now able to sit upright in her highchair at meal time. She eats two solid meals a day, consisting of a vegetable and a fruit, and sometimes a little cereal if she's still hungry. She absolutely LOVES food, saying "Mmmm" with each bite she takes. We thought we would get some really great faces from her, but she really does like everything, but her favorites are sweet potatoes and apples. She was eating store bought food to start with so that I could learn the consistency; now I'm making it, so it's quite a bit different texture than from the jar. The texture change definitely provided for some entertaining faces!
We'll leave you with this sweet "gummy" smile (and a bit of a runny nose...she's got her first cold). There won't be too many more of these as we can see and feel the first sharp little tooth coming in on the bottom. It's so sad to think we'll never see any more "gummy" smiles from our sweet baby. It's amazing to see all that Charleigh is learning to do, and it's so fun to be with her while she's having fun taking the world in. We're trying to soak up and enjoy every precious moment of this sweet stage right now, as we know that big changes are ahead, like sitting and crawling.
